Tell us a bit about yourself?
Before joining the team at Huntley + Co, my earlier years were spent in media sales and then in the fashion industry, before deciding after I had my two children, to pursue my love for Interior Design.
After completing my studies at The Whitehouse School of Design, I returned to the fashion and interior styling industry, where I owned a wholesale agency as well as a fashion and lifestyle boutique. I’ve always been a creative person and it was a dream to work with beautiful things every day. Merchandising and styling my store on a daily basis gave me such pleasure and I loved nothing more than attending trade fairs and staying up to date with the latest trends.
However, life took an unexpected turn 18 months ago when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. This led me to reassess my path, and I decided to pivot my focus toward interiors. I closed my retail business and found my happy place here at Huntley + Co, where I still get to work with beautiful things and people every day!
I’m thrilled to share that I am now cancer-free, but let this be your reminder to “CHECK YOUR BOOBS!”.
What led you to a career in the styling industry?
My love for fashion, interior design, and styling has always been a big part of me—whether it’s making spaces or people look their absolute best. Even as a child, I was constantly rearranging furniture and helping friends and family with their décor and furniture choices. That creative passion and innate desire to bring beauty and balance to every space naturally guided me into this industry.
Tell us about your role and what you do at Huntley + Co?
I’m thrilled to have stepped into the role of Sales and In-House Stylist here at Huntley + Co. As part of the front-of-house team, I thoroughly enjoy working with our clients to curate bespoke furniture and accessory schemes for their home sales. It’s equally rewarding to support the many talented stylists we collaborate with daily, ensuring every project is a success.
When curating a scheme for a client, what is your process?
The process always begins with the initial consultation, which sets the foundation for the desired outcome. Often, the client will have a favourite piece of art or a colour they love, and I use that as a starting point, weaving the palette into cushions, artwork, and décor. I always take into account the home’s style, ensuring the scheme complements its features while meeting the client’s brief. My favourite part of the process is bringing the vision to life and seeing the joy it brings when the final result exceeds their expectations.
Do you have any particular design style or trend that you are drawn to?
I’ve always been drawn to the clean lines and timeless appeal of mid-century modern, paired with the sleek sophistication of modern contemporary design. I love incorporating rich textures like stone, metal, and wood accents to add depth and interest. One of my favourite aspects of design today is the freedom to mix styles and materials, allowing you to create a unique and personal aesthetic.
Where do you draw your creative inspiration from?
It could be as simple as a trend, a colour, a piece of artwork, or even a designer I admire. It really depends on the situation. I have a deep appreciation for Kelly Wearstler as an interior designer. While her bold approach is more daring than my own style, I’m inspired by her masterful use of texture and colour to create striking, unforgettable designs.
What’s one item in your home that you can’t live without and why?
It’s hard to choose just one! Over time, I’ve collected some gorgeous mid-century pieces, and I truly treasure them all—they each bring so much character and charm to my space.
If you could jump on a plane tomorrow and go anywhere, where would you go and why?
While the idea of a quiet escape sounds appealing, I’m not one to sit still for long—I get bored too quickly! Greece would be my top choice. Sun, stunning beaches, cocktails, and a vibrant atmosphere—what more could you ask for!
And that’s a wrap on our chat with Kirsty! We’re absolutely thrilled to have her on our team and know she’ll be a fantastic asset to Huntley + Co. Please join us in giving Kirsty a very warm welcome!
